Reflection: Limitless
When you’re watching the end of a running race, you’ll notice that with about a lap to go, the athletes seem to click into another gear. They know the finish line is close, so they increase their cadence, their faces contorted into grimaces of effort, and often people collapse over the line. When they knew the end was near, they squeezed every last bit of effort out of themselves. It is not that the athletes have saved up plenty of energy; rather, that final push is much more a mental state. You give it everything for that last short time because you know that afterwards, there won’t be any more chances to give.
These two passages from Psalms are a reminder that life is short. Imagine what we could achieve in God’s name if every day we lived our lives with that same ‘finishing straight mentality.’ It would make us more limitless, and we would achieve more than we can imagine.
What would you do if today was your last day? Are you living your God-given purpose? Do you take opportunities to live for God, out of your comfort zone?
Prayer:
Thank you God for blessing us to be able to live with the freedom that comes through knowing you. Please give me the energy and strength to live each day to its fullest and to achieve my God-given purpose. Amen.
