Easter is the crowning event of the Christian calendar, when we remember our precious Lord Jesus who stepped in to secure forgiveness and life for everyone who trusts in him. Together with millions of other Christians this Easter, let’s remember with thankfulness Christ’s great sacrifice for us.
Today we start a new series, The Rugged Cross, which has been prepared by Tess Delbridge. Tess is a writer, theological editor and graduate of Moore College in Sydney.
Reflection: At Easter we remember the heart of the Christian faith: the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ for our sake. But the story of Jesus Christ begins a little earlier, with the coming of John the Baptist. He is a special man of God, born to “bring many of the people of Israel to the Lord their God.” His main job is to prepare people for the coming of the true Messiah, the one for whom they have been waiting many years. He points not to himself, nor his own special calling, but to Jesus Christ.
Question: Who in your life has pointed you to the saving work of Christ?
Prayer: Dear God, thank you that you have given me people like John the Baptist who point me to Jesus. Amen.
