Reflection: At the end of this age, which starts and ends with resurrection, God will have achieved his purposes of restoring all things, making all things new. This is what we look forward to – not just the restoration of the created order, or the end of all suffering and pain, but also our own renewal as people of godly character. This vision of the end of the age is what prompts Paul, Peter and the other writers of the New Testament to encourage their readers to get ready – to be who they are
becoming; people of godly character, reconciled with God through the death and resurrection of Jesus.
Question: Having thought about what will happen at the end of this age, how will this impact on what we do today?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you for bringing us into your heavenly kingdom. We look forward to the age to come by putting on the virtues of the kingdom of God today. We pray that your Spirit might work in us, through your word to bring about this process of renewal in us and in our communities. Amen
