Reflection: Peter argues that we are called to be distinctive as the people of God, like a priesthood or a holy nation. As a holy nation we are able to communicate something of God’s character and qualities. Whether this is a family or a church community or a classroom, a genuine kingdom community declares something very powerful and attractive about God’s love and mercy, his grace, compassion and goodness. Educating for the kingdom begins with establishing such communities within which
people can experience something of the coming kingdom of God.
Question: When you reflect on the communities that you are a member of, in what ways do they communicate something of God’s goodness and eternal qualities? To whom?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we ask that you might work in our communities, our families, and our classrooms, so that we might reflect your eternal kingdom that is to come. Amen.
