Reflection:
I was a friends house the other day and they asked me if I wanted a drink. I desperately wanted a Coke, but wasn’t sure if they had any. “Do you have any Coke?” I asked tentatively. He looked in his fridge and said, “No sorry, we have juice or water”. I was disappointed, but I said, “Water’s fine, thank you.” He then mentioned, “We do have lemon cordial”, and I found myself agreeing with that beverage choice. It certainly wasn’t Coke, but it more than did the job and it surprisingly tasted ok.Â
Sometimes, the way I approach God is similar to this. I have so many desires, but I am scared to ask him because he might say, “No, sorry you can’t have that”. I begin to doubt my ability to ask God for things, for fear of rejection. What I am learning, though, is that when he says “no” to me, he isn’t rejecting me. His ways are perfect and so is his way of dealing with me. Â
Do you trust that when God says “no”, it is truly because he loves you, and what you are asking for may not be the right thing for now?Â
Prayer:
Our Heavenly Father, you know how to give good gifts and we thank you that you are the one giving them. Please help us to remember that you do love us, no matter what our circumstances may be telling us. Amen.  Â
