Reflection:Â Am I loved? I think this is the deepest longing of our hearts. So many narratives revolve around a love story of some sort. We want to be loved, and not just in romantic ways. In our efforts to be loved, sometimes we try to please, not offend and avoid conflict. Other times, we hope to win love by not appearing vulnerable or weak.
Jesus does things differently. He lays down his life. He is vulnerable and weak, yet heads into conflict, knowing that he isn’t pleasing people, but seeking his Father’s will.
When we question whether others love us, it is often because we feel they haven’t shown love to us. Jesus demonstrated his love through the action of the cross. When we realise how much we are loved by Jesus, our deepest longing is answered. This should spur us on to love others in God’s love.
Question:Â Do you deeply long to be loved? How does knowing that Jesus deeply loves you change you and help you love others today?
Prayer:Â Dear Jesus, thank you that you love me. Help me walk this day in your love, with hands and a heart and a mind that loves my neighbour the way you love me. Amen.
