Reflection: Where can I find truth? In 2016, the actor Denzel Washington was asked to respond to a fake news story. His rebuff left the reporter speechless. He said that journalism has been focused on needing ‘to be first, not even to be true anymore’. It is increasingly difficult to find our way through the multitude of information to the truth.
We deeply long for clarity to find a way forward on important global issues. We deeply long to truly understand our own relationships, especially when things get messy.
Jesus has spoken and lived what is true. Thomas and the other disciples all witnessed his life. Jesus’ authority is from the Father and it isn’t something Jesus is making up on his own. In a crazy mixed up world, Jesus is the starting point for finding the truth, because he is the Way and the Truth.
Question: Do you long to find truth in today’s world? How does knowing the Way and the Truth in Jesus help you to understand yourself and others today?
Prayer: Gracious God, thank you that Jesus has shown me the way to you, and that he is the truth and the life. Help me to hold on to the truth and give me your wisdom as I search for what is true in my life each day. Amen.
