Reflection: As we saw yesterday God is independent of the world. His independence from the world also means he isn’t changed by it. In the Psalms we see that God remains the same – he does not change. He is already complete, he doesn’t need to grow in anything, he is perfect, there is nothing that would improve God – it is therefore a good thing that he doesn’t change. However in the Psalms we also see that God’s unchanging nature does not mean that he doesn’t work to make changes in the world – for it says he will change the earth and
the heavens like a garment. But he himself does not change. God’s unchanging nature means that we can depend on his promises.
Question: What promises of God can I hold onto at work or as I care for my family today? For help see: John 14:2-3 (Heaven), Rom 8:28 (God works for good of those who love him), Rom 8:38-39 (God’s love), Eph 1:13-14 (Inheritance), Phil 4:6-7 (Peace)
Prayer:Â Thank you that you are good and you do not change. Help me to remember and trust your promises to me. Amen.
