Reflection: John 1 shows us that God has always been triune (three persons). Jesus did not begin to exist when he entered the world as a human – he has always existed with the Father and the Spirit as God. When thinking of God as three persons we mustn’t forget as we saw yesterday that there is only one God. This does not mean that the Father, the Son and the Spirit are each parts or modes of God. They are all fully God and they are one. In Acts 2:32-33 we see the three persons at work distinctly, but as one. The Father has raised the Son. The Son is at the right hand of
the Father and has received from the Father the Holy Spirit who he has given to people.
Question: What would it mean for the gospel if God wasn’t triune? How would it affect the incarnation, the cross, the resurrection, and our hope?
Prayer: Father thank you that I can be called your child, a co-heir of Christ and be united to Christ by the Spirit. Thank you for Jesus, who though he is God took the nature of a servant and died for me. Thank you for the Spirit who helps me in my weakness. Amen.
