Reflection: God has created us to be in community – we are social beings. Meeting with others can cheer us up. Being encouraged by fellowship with other believers is one way to build our faith – and you may be building the faith of someone else in the process, just by turning up and being present. A word of encouragement, even a smile, can make a big difference in someone’s day. Don’t underestimate the importance and power of connecting with someone. To encourage is to give courage and help to another, to give support, hope and confidence. I know that being encouraged by others has made a big difference in my life. Encouragement has helped me to hold on to hope in the midst of some of life’s hardest challenges and storms. Having connection and encouragement can help build our resilience, as we are reminded that we are not alone.
Whose life can you make a difference in today, to give hope and support for the future?
Prayer: Lord, help me to look out for an opportunity to encourage one other person today. Be with me as I connect with others, whether at work, at school, at home, in a shopping centre, as I travel or go about my usual daily life.
