The Resilient Believer

Day 11 of 14

NIV

Titus 1:7-9

'This is because supervisors should be without fault as God’s managers: they shouldn’t be stubborn, irritable, addicted to alcohol, a bully, or greedy. Instead, they should show hospitality, love what is good, and be reasonable, ethical, godly, and self-controlled. They must pay attention to the reliable message as it has been taught to them so that they can encourage people with healthy instruction and refute those who speak against it. ' Titus 1:7-9, (CEB)

Reflection: Are you a leader in a church? In a workplace? In the home? In your school? Maybe you aspire to be a leader one day? You influence the people who know you by your words and actions. In this letter to Titus, we are reminded of the importance of living a holy and disciplined life, and to hold firm to the trustworthy message – the truth of the gospels, so that we can pass on good teaching and godly knowledge.

Are you spending enough time studying and learning the Bible to be able to do this, to pass on the good news and encourage others with the truth and good news of the word of God? Is your life a good example to those following you or watching you? Do you love what is good? Are you able to refute those who oppose sound doctrine? We have opportunity to grow in our knowledge and love of the word of God each day by spending time in it and then living it as an example for others. How we live our lives, how we act and react, is the only Bible some people see.

Prayer: Lord, help me to be a godly example in all I do and say. Help me hold firmly to your word of hope. Let everything that I say and do reflect you and your word today. Amen.
