Reflection: My wife often laughs as she remembers the awkward way I held our first baby. Becoming a dad didn’t necessarily come easily to me but I think the day I brought home a little Chicago Bulls onesie and dummy to my week-old son I started to grow an inseparable bond with him. In our home we believe that there are no ‘other people’s children’. Rather, children are each a gift from the Father that we are blessed to know and delight in. James reminds us that every good and perfect gift comes down from the Father of heavenly lights. It’s important
for us, whether we are mums, dads, aunts, uncles or invested grown-ups, to treasure the little moments with kids and remember that even in the trials, the stress and the difficulties that life brings, our children are a precious gift from God.
Questions: What moment today can I treasure with the children in my life?
Prayer: Lord, may we recognise the incredible gift and blessing children are in our lives. May you call us out to pause and appreciate the blessings you give us. May you also comfort those who have not yet had a child of their own and give them hope and encouragement through your love.
