Reflection by Dave Edgar*
As we reflect on John 1:3-5 today let’s ponder on the beautiful thought of light shining in the darkness. As commonly known and understood, darkness cannot be where light is because darkness is the absence of light.
Have you ever taken a moment to stop and think about what this looks like through the lens of the great commission? As we ‘go into all the world’, we are carriers of the light which is the Gospel of Jesus. He’s with us and he is in us; and his light that we carry changes environments.
What does your light look like to those around you? If you’ve given your life to Christ, then he is with you and gives you the ability to bring the light of Christ into every room you walk into. His light is greater than any and all darkness; and in moments where you feel led to step out and share the good news of Christ, remember that if fear or intimidation overcomes you, darkness has not and will never overcome light. With the help of Christ, you’ve got this!
This Christmas let’s look for opportunities to share the good news of Christ who has changed our lives and calls us to be the light of the world.
Prayer
God, in this season we ask you to give us opportunities to share the light of the Gospel. As those opportunities arise, we ask for a heavenly boldness to come on us and a clarity of speech that would help us to reflect your saving grace in a way that would bring those in our world into relationship with you. This Christmas help us to see those who don’t know you find faith in you.
