Reflection: We Are Not Consumed Affliction, wandering, bitterness. Disappointment, depression, hopelessness. These experiences are common to humanity. They are what life is like here on earth for all of us who live long enough to know. How can we not be overwhelmed by this? We are such small, insignificant creatures. The answer is that we are not: God has a great love for us, and that makes us invaluable. Every morning, he re-commits to us. Every day, he gives us reason to persevere. So much of life is living patiently
with hardship, believing in God’s love and goodness and waiting on what he has in store for us and the whole of creation.
Question: In your times of sorrow and suffering, can you say to yourself “The Lord loves me, I can wait”?
Prayer: God of all time, give me patience, forbearance and awareness of your faithfulness, as you carry out your plans for the universe.
