Reflection: God created us, and he is in control of our time, including our birth and our death – ‘You turn people back to dust.’ This is who we are: ‘the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground’ in Genesis 2:7 and “By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return,” in Genesis 3:19.
God created time, so he is not limited by its transitory nature. For God, a thousand years are like a day that has just gone by. He governs the passing of time and has set the boundaries of time and life. God completely outlasts us. How different we are from him.
Prayer: Loving Father, we are so thankful that you created us, and made us in your image. Thank you for caring for your creation so much. Thank you for your love for each of us. Thank you that you are our dwelling place forever. Please help us to praise and thank you every day. Help us to seek all our joy in you, each day, all day. Please remind us through your Spirit to seek joy in you, and to thank you for it.
