Reflection: As well as bringing death into focus, the psalm brings God into focus. What different view of God do we have, from vs 14-15?
We see God’s perspective. Moses asks God to satisfy us in the morning with his unfailing love (v14) so that we may sing with joy about him.
Despite our afflictions, God keeps speaking to us. God gives us his perspective – joy comes, through affliction. None of us welcome affliction, and none of us say, ‘Bring it on, God!’ But God knows what will help us to grow and be transformed to be more like Jesus. He knows what is good for us, and he always wants our good. He showers his constant love on us, and gives us joy, in spite of and through our afflictions.
Prayer: Thank you Father, for satisfying us in the morning with your incredible, unfailing love. Thank you for lifting our view to you. Please help us to praise and thank you daily. Thank you for the pure joy we have in you.
