Reflection: Yesterday was doom and gloom – now we see a change. From huge distress, complaint, and questions to: ‘I will appeal: the years when the Most High stretched out his right hand. I will remember the deeds of the Lord’, and ‘I will consider all your works’.
What a wakeup call to us, in v11, ‘I will remember the deeds of the Lord’. The writer doesn’t just remember, then forget. He considers and meditates on God’s mighty deeds. It’s like preaching the gospel to ourselves … On those mornings when we wake up and think – ‘Is God real? Did Jesus really rise from the dead? Is my life based on a lie?’ We should remind ourselves of the facts, of who God is, and all he has done.
Prayer: Father, thank you for reminding us each day of your love, grace and power. Thank you for sustaining us when we struggle. Thank you for your tender care for us. Please help us to bring our cries, our questions, and our struggles to you. Please grow us by your Spirit, to be more like Jesus.
