Reflection:Â God of wonders
Have you seen those videos of huge ships pounded by enormous waves? Have you ever been to sea and looked from one horizon to the other with nothing in sight? I will never forget travelling across the ocean when I was 12 years old and realising the vastness of the sea and the planet as we travelled for days without seeing land.
Have you gazed at the night sky in wonder at the vast reaches of space and stars and galaxies? Do you know, there are more stars in the universe than there are grains of sand on all the beaches and deserts of our planet?
Like Romans chapter 1, this psalm indicates that a reverent fear of the Lord is an appropriate response to work of the creator God, who only has to speak for the creation to come into being.
Question: Have you pondered the night sky lately? Have you gazed at the mountains? Have you been to the forest or the sea? Perhaps it’s time!
Prayer:Â Lord God of wonder, we pray, through the wonders of your creation that are revealed by science and by our own observations, that more people will recognise and respond by worshiping you, their Creator.
And, for ourselves, we pray that you will fill us anew with wonder at your universe, at your majestic theatre showcasing the hand of its maker.
