Reflection: The human body is incredible. Did you know that, while awake, the brain produces enough energy to light a light bulb? Or that, laid end to end, an adult’s blood vessels could circle Earth’s equator four times? Or that the nose can recognise a trillion different scents? Or that humans glow slightly (the light just isn’t visible to our eyes)? Our bodies are amazing … and yet, it’s so easy to be dissatisfied with ourselves, wishing things could change. I always wanted to be taller, and more tanned. I wanted better skin, and a smaller nose. I wanted to
be funnier, and less shy. But the Bible teaches that we are fearfully and wonderfully made by the Creator of the universe. God intimately knit us together before we were born. We are known completely and treasured by Him. Let this truth shape how you see yourself today.Â
Question: In what ways are you dissatisfied with who you are? How could remembering that you are fearfully and wonderfully made by God change your perspective?
Prayer: Loving Heavenly Father,Thank you for the way you made me: so intimately, so wonderfully. When I’m feeling dissatisfied with who I am, please help me to remember the value that I have in your eyes. Amen.Â
