Reflection: Shared peace
These lovely final words are a great reminder that we are global believers and that we are connected to a faith that transcends the ages. ‘Babylon’ is generally regarded as being the church in Rome, from where Peter is writing. There is a bond we share with all of God’s people, from any place and any era. We greet one another and we share together in God’s grace. Those early Christians knew this, and we too are a part of this joyful reality today. There should be a real sense of love and celebration when we get together to share in God’s peace together.
Prayer: The peace of God which passes all understanding keep your hearts and minds in the knowledge and love of God, and of his Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord; and the blessing of God almighty, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, be among you and remain with you always. Amen.
