Reflection:Â Faith comes by seeing
Those same senses that we thought about yesterday in relation to the created world can and are used by God to deepen our love and enrich our relationship with him.
The act of communion is a perfect example, where we use our senses to enter into and remember the actions of God.
In many church traditions, the senses are activated in worship through the use of scents, candles, icons, wall hangings, stained glass windows, and musical instruments. Let’s enjoy whatever senses are activated in our church tradition.
In the ordinariness of life, we also have opportunities to participate in the activity of God – in our serving of others, in our caring for the undeserving and deserving, in our kindnesses to strangers and in the way we go about the ordinary tasks and interactions of the everyday. Let’s commit to serving in God in everything we do, making every action an act of service to our loving God.
Being conscious of ‘God with us’ will help us to take refuge in him when the stresses and challenges of life come our way.
How can I help the children in my life better taste and see the reality of my faith in God?
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for showing us how to incorporate our faith and trust in God into all of life’s daily activities, as we interact with the world around us. May we help the children in our lives to taste and see all that God means to us each day. Amen.
