Reflection:Â Faith is enacted in our families
The family is the most important vehicle for passing on the faith as this is where most of us spend the majority of our time (or with others who act as family for us).
This is where we learn our first life and faith ‘lessons’. You may have heard of the powerful influence of Susanna Wesley through her devotion both to God and her family, in that order. We may not be parents, but we may be relatives of children or have a parent or auntie/ uncle-like role with other’s children. We have the opportunity and privilege to pray for them and to model and speak about the faith with them. All of us can pray for the children in our wider family or family-like networks.
What role do you play – or might you play – in nurturing faith in your immediate and extended families?
Prayer:Â Thank you, God, for families and for the opportunities we have to nurture and support the faith formation of others. Help us to keep in step with you that we might be in the best place to encourage others to do the same. Amen.
