Reflection: A True Disciple
Today’s Scripture talks about how and what we must do in order to become true disciples of Jesus.
The Christian journey can be challenging, but at the end there is a reward and that’s why we must press on with faith.
As we read above, Jesus said, we must deny self to become his disciples.
What does it mean to deny self?
Denying self means leaving every pleasure of the world, our will and ego to follow Jesus. Jesus wants us to deny ourselves and everything we think is relevant to us and follow him. Entrusting and submitting everything in our lives is what God calls us to.
In today’s passage, the Bible also tells us that as disciples, we should carry our cross and follow Jesus. This implies that, in our journey with God, there are times we will make a lot of sacrifices or even be rejected by friends because of our faith. But we should hold steadfast unto our faith, because there is a greater reward for us.
Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, we pray today that you will help us to be humble to serve you in all diligence. Give us the grace to follow you with all our hearts and strengthen us in faith to not give up when challenges come our way, in Jesus’ name.
