Reflection: Blessing Five – Fellowship
The Christian faith is never meant to be a solo journey. It is to be lived out in the context of the community of God’s people. Each of us are people who have been blessed by the mercy of God, and because of the mercy of Jesus’ death and resurrection, we are members of the people of God. As Peter puts it, we’re God’s chosen people, we’re his earthly priests, we’re holy and distinct and we’re God’s special possession. What blessings to rejoice about today!
God has knit us together in local church communities. This is in order to share together in God’s mission of offering that same mercy to our communities and to declare God’s praises in word and deed.
So today, give thanks for the blessing of fellowship. For the blessings of your local church, as flawed as it can be. Give thanks for the mercy of Jesus and his calling for you and your sisters and brothers to be his light in our world.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for blessing us with an earthly community of people who share in fellowship together. Help us to play our part in our churches to enable your mission to flourish in your world. Amen.
