Reflection:
Right now in Australia we are living with interest rate hikes, an increased cost of living, and personal stressors that bring great anxiety to our life. Perhaps more challenging than this is that faith in Christ Jesus is under fire.
In Luke 22:68-69 Jesus is under fire over his identity. The Council is supposed to be a place designed for mercy. In reality, they have already passed judgement.
Do we live with the confidence that Jesus is on the throne, alive and active? Do we believe that he is not caught off guard or uninterested in what is happening in our lives or in this country today? I regularly struggle with the challenge of standing firm, having the confidence to believe that Jesus is both alive and active and is interested in what is happening in our own lives.
Luke 22: 68-69 reminds us that Jesus is seated at the right hand of our mighty God. He is at work and not passively waiting for things to play out here. I hope this gives you hope and encouragement right here and right now.
Prayer:
Lord, thank you that you are both living and active. As we sometimes struggle to see you working day to day, please remind us that you are seated at the right hand of God. Jesus’ work is fully completed. Whilst judgement has been passed, Jesus has washed us white as snow.
