Reflection: Death is the final test of what is true. When you face death, the question that confronts you is: “Have I got it right? Is the worldview I’ve used to construct my life and live by, actually true?
Cancer shines a light on your soul. It exposes what is there and lays it out for you to see.
I love the company of those who bear the scars of suffering and have allowed adversity to refine their faith so that they shine with an inner joy. They are the ones with the wrinkles of pain on their face—the humble ones who love and serve others despite their circumstances. Quite often they are poor, but they are always surprisingly content. I feel humbled in their presence. They are my heroes, and they give me strength.
I love what God does through suffering.
Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, You accomplished everything for us through your suffering. May I accomplish all I can for you with mine.
