Reflection: With that thrilling story of justice and mercy ringing in their ears: you’ve been rendered innocent through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and received access to God…Dunk! Seems these saints are being tested by deep waters. And be assured, in the providence of God, your faith will be tested too. Where do you find safety when times are tough? That, fellow saints, is a good indicator of what you trust.
Meet Saint Grace. After her husband died, she wrote:
“Before Gordon’s passing, the Lord and we walked together.
Now it seems the Lord and I are face to face.
A line from the song Day by Day, comforts me: ‘The protection of His child and treasure is a charge that on Himself He laid.’
Grace’s safe place is with the Lord. In the apostle’s words, Grace is relishing the peace and well-being she has with God… confident in the proud hope of sharing God’s glory.* And that’s what makes Grace a saint.
Prayer:Â If it takes tough and testing times to drive me into your safe arms, I entrust that to you, Lord of my life and of eternity. Jesus, you invited me to come to you for rest, and so I do, today. Keep renewing my confidence and anticipation of permanent peace and rest in you.
