Reflection: The first thing the Creator declared as not good (before sin had even entered the world), was somebody doing life alone. ‘The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”’ (Gen 2:18 ). We live in a world where loneliness is reaching epidemic proportions. So many people have hundreds of ‘friends’ on social media, yet no one to talk to. This is a crisis … But you and I can be part of the solution, by loving others unconditionally.
What does loving God’s way look like?
How about:
- Showing kindness – even in the little things.
- Smiling – it’s a gift that costs little but achieves so much.
- Listening – to be heard is so close to being loved most people can’t tell the difference.
- Asking, ‘How can I help you?’ That is where miracles often start. There are opportunities daily.
- Giving of our time generously to help someone.
I would contend that everyone is an island, and we must be intentional about building bridges to others’ hearts.
Prayer: Lord, today I invite you to search my heart. I bring to you all the relationships of my life. I ask for your Holy Spirit to fill me with your love. I receive from you all the love that you have for me. Help me to live and show love from a place of being fully loved by you.
