Reflection: There are many ways that we can seek to bring change to our lives and to our neighbourhoods, but in today’s passage, Jesus gives us the most important and effective way: love.
Even more so than the best worship services and prayer gatherings, it is our concrete love towards others that not only transforms our heart, but also makes Jesus present within our neighbourhoods. Jesus knew that even though his time on earth was coming to an end, the self-sacrificing love of his disciples would maintain his spiritual presence in the world.
This teaching has profound implications for you and me. It means that in everyday ways, through our genuine care and generous service to those around us, we become a vessel through which Jesus can bring healing, freedom, and wholeness to our communities.
After all, only Jesus can bring true and lasting transformation to our lives!
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I ask that you continue to transform me in your love. Increase my desire and capacity to lay my life down for others, so that now and always, I will be a vessel of your presence in the world.
