Reflection: Jesus. The ultimate hero to whom all others point.
In his book, The Glory of Christ, John Owen writes, “it is in Christ alone that we may have a clear idea of the glory of God. The Father appointed him to be the true representation of his glory.”
Over the past two weeks we have looked at the lives of Christ followers who have pointed us to the source of their faith, strength, hope and courage, even in times of great trial. Namely, they pointed us to Jesus Christ. And Jesus himself, as God in human form, was pointing us to God the Father. Jesus was the true representation of God in human form.
“For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ” (2 Corinthians 4:6). Stop and dwell on this truth, may it feed your soul, strengthen your faith, build up your knowledge and love of God.
Prayer: Dear Lord, my heart delights in you the Father, your Son Jesus Christ and in the Holy Spirit. Transform me into the likeness of your Son, for your glory.
