Reflection: A Word at the beginning
When people meet, they typically ask how the other person is doing. This simple act of checking in is how relationships begin.
The Bible verse John 1:1 state, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” This suggests that God, the Creator, made humanity in his image (Genesis 1:27) and brought everything into existence through his Word. Different cultures have unique ways of greeting each other. For instance, Mongolians commonly greet with a phrase that translates to “Is everything good?” This reflects the idea that God saw all he created as “Good.”
When we meet someone, it’s like we are not only asking about their well-being but also acknowledging our own. Singing, “God is good, he is good” emphasises that God is the ultimate standard of goodness. God declared his creation daily as “good” and labelled them “excellent” after creating humanity. All of nature and every creation should be cared for by a responsible owner to maintain their goodness. Our lives become “very good” when we have the Lord.
Realising that I am a precious creation of God and accepting Christ as my Saviour gave my life purpose. There was a time when my life felt meaningless, filled with rejection and dissatisfaction. However, through God’s word, my life transformed into one that shares good news and spreads the teachings of the Bible.
Prayer:
Lord God, may I remain close to you always, so that goodness may always be a part of my life.
