Reflection: God of all Comfort
Many of us struggle to picture, let alone internalise, the Father of compassion, the God of all comfort, yet these attributes are true.
They say that the broken make the best menders. As we learn to draw on God’s comfort in our moments of greatest adversity, we become relevant and helpful to those around us facing the perplexities of life.
We truly learn to weep with those who weep and rejoice with those who rejoice. As an example, Dr Nick Hawkes, a regular contributor to Daily Bible, has provided huge comfort to others experiencing ‘stormy waters’, through his Daily Bible offerings on his own cancer journey.
Nick can attest to God’s comfort overflowing into his life as he has learned to rest in him.
It is my prayer that the Lord will strengthen, revive, heal and encourage those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. I pray that you will know the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles. Let us pray together that this healing, comfort and encouragement will be experienced in homes all around the world, for Jesus Christ has come for all people.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I come before you now seeking your compassion and your comfort. I ask that you comfort me, my loved ones, my friends and my neighbours, in our troubles, troubles you know deeply. I thank you that I can ask for this comfort because of the grace given to me through Christ’s death and rising again. Amen.
