Reflection: Alive in Christ
Our elevation is not from earth to heaven, but from the depths of hell to the heights of heaven. Try and imagine being seated in the heavenly realms, for that is what Paul is describing in this passage. They are a place of great authority, and our prayers should come from that vantage point. But more importantly, heaven is a place of intimacy with our Heavenly Father. It is a place where we can hear his heartbeat and ask him what is important to him. It is a place where we can hear what Jesus is interceding for us.
It is a place of unconditional love where the father lavishes the riches of his grace upon us.
This is one of the most beautiful descriptions of our Heavenly Father, redeeming humanity, elevating us as sons and daughters. Can you feel that love, that image, cascading into your soul, wave after wave of magnificent angelic choirs, of beauty, of intimacy beyond our imagining as God displays the incomparable riches of his grace for you and for me!
Prayer: “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.” (Ephesians 2:8). Amen.
