Reflection: Are you ever tempted to compare yourself with other Christians? If so, you’re far from alone. We live in a culture that implores us to be in competition with one another, from school, to work, to sport. And for those of us who are mothers, the ghastly “mummy wars” can take an axe to our self-worth. But these are temporary elements of this world. God’s kingdom is eternal and we are all God’s creatures – each imperfect, and each equally saved entirely by his grace. So, competing and comparing our Christian walk with others is absurd. This is not to say that finding Christian mentors is of no value, but it shouldn’t leave us feeling as though we are losing the race. We can’t lose the race that Jesus has already run and won for us.
Question: In what ways is God using you for his glory?
Prayer: Father, thank you that you have given me a part to play in building your kingdom. May I live a life characterised by faithfulness and thankfulness that shines out like a beacon to those you have called. Amen.
