Reflection: Chosen, holy, royal and special. This is how God’s people are described by Peter. Each of us is indeed very precious to God. But if we look a little closer to this passage and the surrounding verses, we can see Peter is making a bigger point about us being the Church. We Christians are called to be God’s dwelling place as the Holy Spirit lives in us, and together we are to praise the Father and tell others of his saving work.
There’s no theological qualification required here. No minimum years of service are required to be woven into the very fabric that is the Church. You are chosen, you are needed, you are enough.
Question: Do you see yourself as part of the Church or more a consumer of Church? How does the difference show up in your worship life?
Prayer: Dear God, thank you for giving us a noble purpose as part of the living Church. Please use me today to bring you glory and let others see how wonderful you are as I tell of your work in my life. Amen
