Reflection: Faith
Every person must be reached by the word of God in order that they may believe. For them to hear the word of God, someone must help them. Paul emphasises this need: how can they hear it unless someone preaches to them?
Faith comes from hearing the message, the message of Christ. There are people out there willing to go share God’s word, but who lack resources. We can share the gospel with others through sending people or supporting missionaries to take the word of God to far away areas where we may not be able to reach ourselves.
In Mozambican villages, the word of God is still to get to some areas; others have the word of God, but they don’t read the Bible because they can’t read or write. We need to meditate on Paul’s message: if they have not heard, how can they believe, and how can they hear if no one is preaching to them? Also, how can they read the Bible if no one teaches them?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, your people need to believe and call on you. Someone needs to preach to them your word, to build their faith. Help me to be part of this and preach your word. Help me to be an instrument to communicate your word. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
