Reflection: God knows. He really knows, so it’s silly to hide the truth about ourselves from him.
And to encourage you to be “real” with God, may I say this: God knows your imperfections and the craziness of your heart, but he has still invited you to be part of his family. He has still invited you to be part of his kingdom. God sees your heart… and still chooses you.
You may wonder how God can remain holy if he has embraced imperfect people like us. He is able to because he has invited us to exchange our sinfulness for Jesus’ righteousness. That was the transaction made possible by Jesus dying on the cross – and it was a transaction that changed everything.
But please don’t forget: God sees your heart. As such, it makes no sense to pretend that we don’t need refining. We will always need refining whilst we live this side of heaven.
Prayer: Precious Saviour, Sometimes I’m not too keen to show you my heart. Please forgive me… and teach me to trust my heart to the one who loves me the most.
