Reflection: ‘Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. ‘ 1 Corinthians 12:27.
There is a joy that comes with a deep realisation that you are part of God’s community. For me, it is a sense of being proud to stand alongside others and lend my voice to theirs as we worship God together. At a most visceral level, it is an understanding that we are knit together by the initiative, grace and glory of God. It is a truth I only catch and realize occasionally––like seeing a rare bird. But it is a thrilling truth when I see it. On those occasions, I see myself in a crowd of God’s people, not standing apart from them, but standing with those who revel in God character and majesty.
Just occasionally, I “get” what it means to be Christ’s church… and I hope you do too.
Prayer: You gave us a beautiful secret in asking us to live in unity. In standing with my sisters and brothers, my heart becomes bigger and I catch a glimpse of the beautiful unity you experience with the Father. Thank you for numbering me among your people. In Jesus name. Amen.
