Reflection: As New Testament Christians, we understand our faith through the lens of the cross. We live by the grace given freely to us in Jesus’ crucifixion, one man dying for all, and rising again, to give us an eternal hope and purpose for living.
The Apostle Paul is quoting from Isaiah 29, where the Prophet is warning the people of Ariel of their fate as they no longer bring honour to God.
We celebrated Easter just over a month ago. We were reminded as we walked through Holy Week of the horror of Jesus’ death on the cross, dying for humankind! And we proclaimed together ‘Christ is Risen’ on Easter Day. For those who do not know Christ, these events are foolish. Somehow the imperative for us to share the message of Good News is amplified in words such as this.
Those who do not know God’s saving grace are also deprived of the wisdom and understanding that he bestows on those who ask.
Prayer: Lord God. The world needs wisdom. Help me to understand the urgency of introducing my family and friends to you. I want them to know your wisdom. I do not want them to perish. Give me your words of wisdom to speak grace into their lives. Amen.
