Reflection: Deep Healing
In Jesus we see a deep compassion for people in need. In this incident he is ‘indignant’ or ‘filled with compassion’ and, because of who he is, is able to meet the need of the man begging for help. The affliction of leprosy not only places the sufferer in physical distress, but he or she becomes rejected and socially isolated as well. These healings are a sign of the deeper, lasting healing work of Jesus in bringing in the Kingdom of God and foreshadows a time when illness and social isolation will be a thing of the past. Jesus has the power to heal all our brokenness.
What particular aspect of our broken world are you seeking healing for today?
Prayer:
Father, there is so much brokenness in our world. I pray for someone today that I know who needs your healing hand in their life. Please come to them in your Spirit and have mercy on them. Amen.
