Mark’s Gospel poses the question ‘Who is Jesus?’, and moves the reader quickly towards an answer, challenging them to consider the implications of his identity. We see many varied reactions to Jesus – some are immediately opposed to him and offended by his claims, while others are irresistibly drawn to this teacher and healer. The true identity of Jesus and its implications are something of a puzzle, even for his disciples, as only gradually do they come to understand who he is. In this seven-day devotion series, Simon Smart helps us to explore that identity and much of what is entailed in Jesus as “the Messiah, the Son of God” and Lord of all things – Lord of the physical creation, the spirit world, sickness and even Lord over death itself.
