Reflection: What was the clue God gave to the shepherds that would tell them they had found Jesus?
It was that they would find Jesus––God in human form; God of the cosmos and unimaginable wonders; God of infinite power and glory––wrapped in cloths and placed in an animal’s feeding trough.
What does that tell you about the lengths God will go to, to reach ordinary people like you? There is no gutter God will not crawl through to rescue you back to himself.
Palestinian shepherds were a despised sub-class of society. But here’s the point: these shepherds, so despised by society, became Jesus’ first missionaries. In other words: an authentic encounter with Jesus turned shepherds into missionaries.
Do let the same thing happen to you.
Prayer: Heavenly Father,
I want to find Jesus––utterly and completely. I want to find him and be so transformed that I too become his missionary to my community.
