Reflection: God invited two groups of people to celebrate the birth of his son into the world. The first was a group of shepherds. The second was a group of wise men from another faith tradition. These men were humble enough to understand that they didn’t know it all… and they were sincerely looking for more.
These two groups of people should tell you a lot about where God puts his priorities!
God spoke to the Magi through a language they understood––the marvels of the cosmos, and the Magi were brave enough to follow its lead.
Today, God still hangs his business card in the cosmos and invites us to seek him out (Psalm 19:1-4).
But to seek God out, they had to leave their comfort zones, their lazily held previous beliefs… and sincerely seek.
Here’s the question: If you were one of them: would you have gone on the journey and searched for, and discovered, Jesus?
It’s worth noting that their search did not stop until they found Jesus, and neither should yours.
Prayer: My Father,
I am terrified of becoming so arrogant and self-obsessed that I don’t look for you. Please keep me safe in your love… and let me meet with you in the quiet times of the day.
