14 day plan

"This is my body"

Day 6 of 14

NIV

John 1:14

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14 NIV “For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form,” Colossians 2:9 NIV

Reflection: Submitting to body: Immanuel

“If Mary I were

Wizened and wounded by wonder

At mysteries too deep and bitter-sweet

Paradox perplexing and divine

I too would treasure these things in my feeble heart

Treasures in my chest

In my ag-ed glory box distressed by hammer and nail

My inner chamber pierced by sword and shame

“Unwrapping glories and turning turning in memory’s unmeasured mind

Would insensible memorabilia wear smooth and grief abate

If Mary I were

“If grafted into royalty and esteemed by The Almighty

Who pursues the poor in heart and those locked into slavery

Would wonder not spill from my hungry heart and worship from my virgin lips

Is anything too wonder-filled for God

“Confounding favor with God and dis-favor with man

Heavenly halo and shadow of shame

Wondering if veiled eyes would prove pure to honest Joe

Would tired legs not take to the hills there to find refuge

To find dare

What cross is this to bear if a king be my heir

“The flutters the kicks the pains the push

Infant lowly Infant holy

Fragile at birth while king of heav’n ‘n earth

Would I accustom to his innocence or treat him like royalty

Is he subject or am I in subjection

“Divine signs and sojourn shifts

Worship tips and temple trips

Immanuel know-s between right and wrong

Grows in rare reason and repute

Ageless at the age of twelve

He shoulders religious rhetoric

Would I lean on him for safety or shelter to protect

“When will the government rest on these shoulders

When comes the reputation

The salvation for every nation

Time is ticking Time is telling

Would I follow or would I lead

Son of mine No guts No glory

Son of Man Intervene with holy

I witness wedding water turned wine

“Groomed for greatness but favouring weakness

I find that fortune doesn’t follow fame

They gather in grasping groping hungry hoards

Signs are disputed Words are refuted

Careless to the world’s repute and token ties of kindred-ship

He questions Who are my mother and my brothers

Who do you say I am

Son Who do you say I am

Like Mary, treasure and unwrap something from this glory-story of God-become-man. Turn it over, over, over in your mind as you go about your day.

Prayer:

Remind and confront me of these mysteries as I go about my day today. Lord Jesus, I treasure your intimate glory-story of God-become-man. I treasure you.
