Out of the Darkness

Day 5 of 14

CEV

Psalm 40:1-3

"I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord."  Psalm 40:1-3, ESV

Reflection:

This is the other side of our cry for help.

In hindsight, it is often easier to see how God answered prayer, how he drew us back up from the pit, how he set our feet upon the rock.

This does not mean that all suffering will be solved in this life—but it is still right to look towards the new song that he is writing within us. How can we transmute suffering into praise, so that others might see, fear and trust in him?

Even in suffering, what can you praise God for? Who can you share this with today?

Prayer:

Dear Lord, thank you for your everyday mercies, for your word which is life, for breath with which to praise you. Help me renew my praise of you and do so in others.  In the name of Jesus, Amen.
