Nourishment - Part 2

Day 2 of 3

NIV

Psalms 23:2

2He makes me lie down in green pastures,

he leads me beside quiet waters,

Water
Do you sometimes feel like your life is in constant turmoil and you are just spinning? What would you give to just find refreshment and rest?

I live in the Wheatbelt. For just a few months a year the fields are green, and the river is full. I feel refreshed and alive!

In Psalm 23, the Shepherd’s psalm, we read that the shepherd (God), leads the sheep (us) to places of refreshment and nourishment. In times of challenge and dryness, I have learnt to return to the leading of God to find what I need to get through. I rest in trusting he is in control. Sometimes that’s all I can do – rest and trust. When I find that place of rest; oh what peace!

The reassuring thing about God’s rest and guiding, is that it’s not only for a few months of the year – it’s always available when we follow him.

Question
What could you hand over to God that would help you find rest?

Prayer
Lord, I’m spinning and tumbling. I need You to bring me back to a place of rest, beside the still waters.

Psalms 23:1-6

Psalm 23

A psalm of David.

1The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.

2He makes me lie down in green pastures,

he leads me beside quiet waters,

3he refreshes my soul.

He guides me along the right paths

for his name’s sake.

4Even though I walk

through the darkest valley,

I will fear no evil,

for you are with me;

your rod and your staff,

they comfort me.

5You prepare a table before me

in the presence of my enemies.

You anoint my head with oil;

my cup overflows.

6Surely your goodness and love will follow me

all the days of my life,

and I will dwell in the house of the Lord

forever.
