Reflection:
I’m a big football (soccer) fan. My club got a new manager a little over a year ago and he has been doing a good job. He has instilled a new culture, changed the personnel, and improved how the team is playing. But the team is still not the finished article. There are still improvements to be made. They are in process.
We spend our whole Christian life wanting to be further on than we actually are. In terms of holiness, being loving, patient, our prayer life, our boldness — we’re not where we want to be. This isn’t bad but appropriate. We, too, are in process.
Positively, every day God is silently at work in your life, transforming and conforming you to think more like Jesus, feel more like Jesus, talk more like Jesus, and live more like Jesus.
These verses say God will complete what he has started. We will be transformed. We will be where we want to be. We will be changed. Those daily struggles will be no more. We will be like Jesus. Not maybe, or hopefully. We will be. This is our future.
Prayer:
Father, you know that I, and all those around me, are in process. Holy Spirit, thank you for continuing to work in me, and in them, transforming us to become more like Jesus. Lord Jesus, I praise you that when you return I — and my sisters and brothers — will be like you, because Holy Spirit, you will finish what you started. Hallelujah.
