Reflection:
Most of us know that good communication is essential for any relationship. But in relating to God, we’re usually the ones doing all the talking. A one-way conversation does not make for a healthy relationship. At the same time, we often struggle to hear God’s voice. This is not a new problem – it seems ancient people struggled with it too. Here we’re told that the problem was not with God, but with us. He is speaking, but we don’t recognise it. One way or another, he’s trying to get his message through, but we don’t notice it. The problem is not with him needing to speak, but with us, needing to listen.
Have you ever heard God speak to you? What did he say?
Prayer:
God, I confess, sometimes I’m the one who is doing all the talking in this relationship. Teach me to value your words ahead of mine. Amen
