Reflection:
The devil deceived Adam and Eve into thinking that God is not trustworthy. The devil seeks to do the same with every single person, including every Christian. Why?
The foundation of the Christian life is faith. That means a trusting loyalty or faithful allegiance. The devil’s tactic, if successful in a person, will completely undermine their faith.
Do you, deep down, believe that God is trustworthy?
Here are two tests to help you uncover your heart-beliefs about this:
- Imagine someone you believe can hear from God tells you that God has given them a message for you. How does that make you feel? Do you get excited, or are you full of fear or worry?
- Are you willing to pray the most dangerous prayer in the world? Here it is: ‘Father, I love you, I trust you. I am yours. Jesus, anywhere you want me to go, I will go. Anywhere you want me to live, I will live. Anything you want me to do with my life, I will do. Lord my possessions, my talents and skills, my time, my relationships, my career, my future — I give them all to you, Lord. Holy Spirit lead me however you choose, and I will follow. Amen.’
Prayer: Pray the prayer, above.
