Reflection:
Faith is a one-time entrusting of myself to the Lord Jesus. Believing is an ongoing activating of my faith in Jesus. In giving my life to the Lord, both originally and repeatedly, he holds my life in trust.
When my wife and I bought our house, we transferred the money to our lawyer. That money was then held in trust for us. The ownership papers of the house were given from the sellers to their lawyers. Then the two sets of lawyers did their legal dance, a very expensive dance. And then, we got the house, and the sellers got their money. But before settlement, before the expensive legal dance, our money was held in trust.
Amongst other things, verses 4-5 mean you can live knowing that your life is held in trust, by the Lord Jesus himself. You don’t need to fear the unknown. You don’t need to try and manipulate situations to get your way. In many situations in life, you may not get your way. You may not get the desired outcome. But that is okay. Your wellbeing doesn’t depend on always getting your way. Your life is held in trust.
Jesus is your good shepherd.
Prayer:
Today, I entrust myself to you Lord Jesus, to the loving lordship of the Father, and to the strong and gentle hands of the Spirit. Lord, continue to become more and more real to me so I become increasingly aware that you are in charge, and I am not, and this is good. Thank you that you are the Creator and giver of life, and my life is in your hands.
